What is iYell ?
iYell intends to be an easy to use and lightweigth IRC Bot, and is oriented towards avanced users, though every person able to compile a program will use it easily. It is writen in plain C, and was developed from the start with cross-platform in mind. It should run on every recent unix, and even on embedded devices such as the WRT54G as long as you can compile libevent and openssl on it.It has a simple and unique client/server architecture, allowing simples scripts gathering data from multiple sources. You can use your favorite programming language as long as it supports RC4 encryption, UDP sockets or named pipes (ex: perl, python, C, ...)
It uses libevent for network management, and openssl for encryption. For example, one script can be a Subversion hook, and another can parse some RSS feed. The result will be send to the bot, and the bot will "yell" the result to a specified channel.
How do I install it ?
Just download it in the download section, run ./configure && make && make install. For further instructions, please read the README file inside the archive.
